This video lecture from Group IIIA and Group IVA Elements  (F.Sc. second year Chemistry) covers the reactions of Aluminum with acids and alkalies. Aluminum with hydrochloric acid forming hydrogen gas while sulfuric acid gives sulfur dioxide gas. Nitric acid gives no reaction with aluminum. Aluminum reacts with potassium and sodium hydroxide in water to form complex compounds. Aluminum is hence amphoteric in nature.
